The Golden Eaglets today began screening for their qualifying tournament in Ghana under the supervision of new coach Nduka Ugbade.
About 100 hopefuls tried their luck in the morning session headed by Ugbade with all his assistants in attendance.
Training was at the FIFA Goal Project in Package B of the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Thousands of youngsters will storm the venue with the hope they will follow in the footsteps like Nwankwo Kanu, Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho, who used the U17s as a launch pad to fame and fortune in Europe.
Ugbade himself made history when he captained the country to win the inaugural world championship in China in 1985.
The five-time world champions will be in Ghana in June for a sub-regional tournament that will serve as a qualifier for the 2023 U17 AFCON in Algeria.
They had qualified for the 2021 AFCON, which was to have been hosted by Morocco but was eventually cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
