Tobias Lawal, who at a time was the Super Eagles radar, is now under serious attack after he let in five goals in a final game of the regular season in Belgium for Genk to miss out on the Champions Playoffs.
He was directly responsible for one of the goals as Genk played out a 5-5 draw with home team La Louviere.
Genk thus finished the regular season in seventh place with 42 points from 30 matches, a spot outside the six-team Champions Playoffs.
Genk coach Nicky Hayen lamented his team’s defensive frailties.
“This is simply a summary of our season. You have very good moments where you score very good goals, but at the other end, you also give away goals just as easily,” he told DAZN
Hayen was then asked about his goalkeeper Lawal.
“Do we have a goalkeeping problem? We know that it has been very difficult over the last few weeks and months. It is a shame that it is happening, but we continue to defend everyone,” the coach answered.
