Newly-crowned Goal King of Holland Cyriel Dessers has said he will hope to soon play in one of the top-5 leagues in Europe.
Dessers, who would have made his Super Eagles debut in March, finished joint top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 15 goals and five assists after the league was called off no thanks to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
He has just become the top scorer of the Eredivisie and will probably make his debut for the national team of Nigeria. Cyriel Dessers has everything to make a nice transfer this summer, except of course the corona crisis.
The 25-year-old striker said he believes he will fit into the top leagues of England, Spain, Germany, France.
“I think I would fit in several competitions with my way of playing, but I like to keep all doors open,” he told Voetbal International.
A return to Belgium, where he played for Lokeren, has not been ruled out.
“Belgium? That could always be possible. It also depends on what happens this summer. Maybe Belgium is a nice intermediate step to a top-five competition,” he said.
However, Dessers admitted the Coronavirus Pandemic has caused the transfer market to be most unpredictable.
“It is indeed a very bad time,” he said. “But even then we don’t know what’s going to happen. Maybe the market will come alive in a month, maybe not at all.
“That cannot be predicted and that makes it exciting. But I can’t control it and I can so better not worry about it. “
