Genk should give Paul Onuachu a pay rise so that he could stay put at the Belgian club, according to a top TV pundit and former international.
“Why not sit down with Onuachu and try to upgrade his contract financially, so that the player can compensate a piece of what he could earn in England, for example?”, questioned Marc Degryse.
“Genk can do that. They have the means to close a gap.”
The expert said an Onuachu departure will hurt Genk big time.
“Onuachu’s departure would be a great loss,” Degryse told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“I think the board should gradually make the decision (to keep him).”
Goal King last season, Onuachu, 27, has so far scored three goals this season in all competitions.
Genk asking price for the striker is reportedly put at 30 Million Euros.
They said they are yet to receive a formal bid for the Super Eagles striker.
