Sensational Gift Orban was conspicuously missing from the matchday squad for Gent in tonight’s 1-1 draw with Zorya of Ukraine in a UEFA Conference League group game in Poland.
Gift Orban was originally listed for this game, but will later drop out altogether.
It is believed he has yet to recover from the injury he suffered at the Super Eagles training camp in Uyo before the 2023 AFCON final qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.
The Gent coach had hinted Gift Orban was a major doubt for this tie on account of this injury.
It must also be noted that the striker did not make a big transfer in the summer as widely expected.
Fellow Nigerian striker, Goodluck Igbokwe, who made the matchday squad, did not eventually make his debut for the Gent first team.
