Gift Monday says NWSL Playoff goal for late father

Gift Monday has dedicated her goal for Washington Spirit in an NWSL Playoff against Racing Louisville to her father, who she buried last week.

She said the goal was for “the man who taught me to dream, fight and believe”.

Gift Monday broke the deadlock after 73 minutes with a headed goal, before Louisville drew level in stoppage time.

The game was then decided via penalties with Washington Spirit advancing to the Playoffs semifinal after winning the shootout 3-1.
