Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan has criticised the omission of Anderlecht midfielder Majeed Ashimeru from the crucial World Cup playoffs against rivals Nigeria.
Coach Otto Addo has picked 27 players for the playoffs in Kumasi Friday and then Tuesday in Abuja.
Gyan argued that Ashimeru deserved a call-up because he is Ghana’s best midfielder after Arsenal star Thomas Partey.
“Ashimeru deserves to be in this current Black Stars,” the former Ghana skipper tweeted after his earlier tweet described the omission of the midfielder as “nonsense”.
Ghana will be without as many as nine players including captain Andre Ayew on account of suspension and injury.
Eight players who did not feature at the recent AFCON in Cameroon have made their way back to the squad.
