Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck has given the main reason he drafted little known Nigerian striker Goodluck Igbokwe for tonight’s UEFA Conference League clash against Zorya of Ukraine.
Vanhaezebrouck said injury suffered by Gift Orban at the Super Eagles training camp in Uyo recently was the main reason.
“That’s why I brought Goodluck,” he told Het Nieuwsblad.
“We have three strikers in our first team, so if one drops out you still have two and then you have to draw from Jong Gent’s reservoir.
“Goodluck is currently the best striker at Jong Gent and then it is logical that we take him.”
The 21-year-old Nigerian striker is already in his third season at Jong AA Gent, where he started the season well with two goals in three matches.
