Genk sports director Dimitri de Conde has tipped Paul Onuachu to win the prestigious Golden Boot awarded to the best player in Belgium in a calendar year.
Onuachu broke several goals record last season to finish with 35 goals in all competitions.
“I definitely see two contenders for the Golden Boot with us. Paul Onuachu broke all the records that could be broken last season. He deserves the Boot for that alone. Despite his limited game time, he has already scored 12 goals this season, ” de Conde told HLN.
Onuachu finished third at the last Golden Boot award.
The Genk director also picked Japanese winger Junya Ito to have a say in the award as his service led to many of Onuachu’s goals
“Junya is an underrated player, he is very important to us and was a big part of our cup win,” he remarked.
“Due to the language barrier, he does not speak much, but that has not affected his performance.”
