Genk have had to double their offer for Ike Ugbo and will now have to fork out a record 7.5 Million Euros to sign the Chelsea striker.
Genk initially plan to pay about 3.5 Million Euros, but may have been forced to up their offer after Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille stepped into the race to sign the young striker.
Ugbo will be the third Nigerian striker at the Belgian club after Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers.
Onuachu cost Genk six Million Euros two years ago, while Dessers cost the club four Million Euros a season ago.
Reports have already said the deal is “done” and what is now left is the routine medical.
Ugbo netted 16 goals last season on loan from Chelsea to ensure Cercle Brugge were not relegated from the Belgian top league.
