Genk coach Thorsten Fink has said Tolu Arokodare has been left out of the team because the Belgian club are negotiating with another club on his transfer.
Genk qualified for the UEFA Europa League group stage on a 6-3 on aggregate against Polish champions Lech Poznan without the Super Eagles striker.
“Negotiations are underway,” Fink told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“A club is interested. It was too risky for both parties to play.
“We’re working with players I know can give it their all, not with guys who might be preoccupied. It was better for everyone to leave Tolu out of the squad.”
Premier League club Wolves are believed to be the team negotiating Arokodare’s transfer from Genk.
