Genk coach Wouter Vrancken has said he hopes Cyril Dessers stays put at the Belgian club as he has remained positive since he rejoined the squad ahead of the new season.
Dessers enjoyed a successful loan spell at Dutch club Feyenoord last season and his future at Genk is still uncertain.
Last week, Dessers played his first 30 minutes for Genk in a pre-season against Utrecht since his return from Feyenoord.
The Super Eagles striker came close to scoring a few times, but failed to score yet.
Vrancken said he has been impressed with Dessers.
“He came in here the right way. Cyril is Cyril. He confirms the positive stories I’ve heard about him,” the Genk coach remarked.
“In terms of mentality, you will have no problems with him.
“Obviously I hope he stays. I haven’t specifically talked to him about the future yet, but I hope to do so.”
