Gabon have been handed a serious warning ahead of a 2026 World Cup Playoff after Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen fired a hat-trick to destroy home team Ajax in a UEFA Champions League tie tonight.
Galatasaray recorded an impressive 3-0 win in Amsterdam and Osimhen has now scored six goals in three Champions League matches this season.
After he was twice denied by some brilliant goalkeeping in the first half, Osimhen found the back of the net with a diving header in the 59th minute off a Leroy Sane delivery.
He then doubled Galatasaray lead pm 65 minutes from the penalty spot after a VAR review ruled that an Ajax defender handled the ball inside the box.
Osimhen completed his treble in the 78th minute also from the penalty spot after another handball inside the box.
Galatasaray are ninth in the overall standings with nine points from four matches, just outside the top-8 on goals difference.
Ajax are without any points halfway through the group phase of the Champions League.
