One of the forgotten men of Nigeria football Tyronne Ebuehi has said he hopes to get going again at new club FC Twente after enduring a difficult time sidelined by injury at Benfica.
The Super Eagles defender joined Portuguese giants Benfica from Dutch side ADO Den Haag in 2018, but his time in Lisbon was tough no thanks to a long-term injury.
He now believes his loan move back to Holland will get him back to top reckoning.
“It feels great to be here at FC Twente. The conversations I had with the club were very positive and I am looking forward to playing here,” he told the Dutch club’s website.
“In the past I played against FC Twente with ADO. Twente is a big club and I want to prove myself here, but of course also help the club. ”
Technical Director Jan Streuer celebrated the capture of the skillful defender:
“It is great that we can add Tyronne Ebuehi to our team,” he remarked.
“In his time at ADO Den Haag, Tyronne showed he is a talented player. It is not without reason that he was selected for the national team of Nigeria and played at the 2018 World Cup.
“In his first year with Benfica, Tyronne had a difficult season due to an injury, but last year he made his appearance for Benfica B. He is fit again and will hopefully be able to fully join our team soon.”
Twente have the option to buy the player on a permanent basis after the loan deal.
