Folarin Balogun, one of a score of players with Nigerian roots who will feature at this year’s World Cup even in the absence of the Super Eagles, was the match winner for World Cup co-hosts USA to beat Senegal in a warm-up game.
Sergino Dest got the US off to a flying start after just seven minutes of action at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Christian Pulisic gave the Americans a commanding 2-0 lead on 20 minutes.
However, Sadio Mane then struck twice in the 44th and 52nd minutes for Senegal to restore parity.
It was then left for AS Monaco striker Balogun to fire the winning goal in the 63rd minute.
