Nigeria gave away two late first-half goals Saturday night in La Plata, Argentina, to finish as Third Best Losers in Group D.
Bameyi has now vowed that the team will return to their winning ways as they await their Round of 16 opponents between USA and hosts Argentina.
“It was disappointing that we lost,” the defender said in a post-match interview.
“We wanted to win to keep our winning record, but that’s football.
“We’re sorry we lost, while we appreciate the support of Nigerians.
“We will bounce back.”
The final round of matches in Group E and F later today in Argentina will determine the Flying Eagles opponents in the knockout rounds of the World Cup.
