The Flying Eagles have been lifted by a 4-0 win over Qatar in their opening Group D match of the 2019 U20 World Cup in Poland.
The Nigeria U20s scored twice in each half Friday in Tychy to go top of the group after Ukraine stopped USA 2-1 in the other game in this section.
Manchester City midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru scored the team’s third goal and he said the team will continue to work hard together so as to beat USA on Monday night.
“It was a great feeling to get my first goal for Nigeria,” said Dele-Bashiru, who has represented England at U16 level.
“We have to treat the next game against USA as a final, we don’t have to underrate them, rather we have to play as a team, like we did against Qatar.”
Norway-based striker Jerome Akor came off the bench to provide the assist for the Flying Eagles fourth goal and he said he expects another great team effort on Monday.
“It was good to get an assist when I came on, but this was a great team effort from the first minute to the 90th minute,” he said.
“We hope for another victory against the USA.”
Monday’s clash will kick off by 7.30 pm in Nigeria.
