Flying Eagles of Nigeria fell 2-1 to Uganda in their opening game at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, tonight.
The Nigeria U20s suffered the first blow in the game when Kizza Usama broke the deadlock in the 34th minute.
Three minutes later, the Flying Eagles leveled the scores with a powerful header by Sadiq Isiyaka after a beautiful ball into the box.
The Young Ugandan Cranes proved they meant business when Ivan Irinimbabazi restored the lead for them after poor goalkeeping by Samuel James 10 minutes to the end of regulation time.
It was a disappointing start for coach Ladan Bosso’s team as they now look towards the game against Senegal to get their campaign back on track.
Senegal beat South Sudan 1-0 in their own opening Group B clash.
