Defender Abel Ogwuche crowned his first start at the U20 AFCON in Egypt by bagging the CAF Man of the Match Award against Uganda tonight.
The Trelleborgs FF of Sweden central defender was a direct replacement for suspended Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bameyi.
He was commanding in the heart of the Nigerian defence and unbeatable in the air as the Flying Eagles booked their passage to the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.
Another defender, Solomon Agbalaka, has so far scooped two CAF Man of the Match Awards – vs Egypt and vs Mozambique – at this tournament.
He was also named in the Tournament Best XI for the group stage.
