Finidi George has revealed that he tweaked the Super Eagles formation used at the recent AFCON for them to now play a 3-5-2 formation versus Ghana.
He said he wanted at least two players upfront as Victor Osimhen was overworked as the lone ranger upfront at the AFCON.
The Enyimba coach gave former Bendel Insurance defender Benjamin Tanimu his Super Eagles debut today after stand-in captain Kenneth Omeruo suffered a knock in training.
He revealed he wanted to sign him for Enyimba while he was still featuring in the NPFL.
“Overall, I will give him credit for being up and doing,” he rated Tanimu’s performance.
Finidi said he is excited to lead the Super Eagles to a first victory over the Black Stars of Ghana since 2006.
“I am happy to win this game considering the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana,” he said.
“I am happy for the players, I will keep pushing.”
The Eagles will play a second friendly Tuesday against Mali also in Marrakesh, Morocco.
