World football governing body FIFA have fined the Super Eagles for breach of order and security during a 2026 World Cup Playoffs against DR Congo in November.
However, FIFA were again silent on Nigeria’s protest against DRC for allegedly parading several ineligible players for the match.
Nigeria will now have to pay 1,000 Swiss Franc for this breach, while DRC will pay 5,000 Franc as there were unruly scenes in the aftermath of the penalty shootout that Congo won 4-3 to advance to the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico later this month.
Top Nigerian officials have been bullish that they will receive a favourable verdict following their protest against DRC to keep the country’s hopes alive of featuring at this year’s World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
