World football governing body FIFA have maintained that a decision on the way forward for Nigerian football would only be taken after a joint assessment visit to the country.
Therefore, a decision has yet to be taken on whether to set up a Normalisation Committee or an Interim NFF administration following the resignation of the NFF executive committee led by Ibrahim Gusau.
This was contained in a letter to the NFF from FIFA dated September 7 and signed by chief member association officer Elkhan Mammadov.
The correspondence stated that FIFA will soon conduct an assessment mission jointly with CAF on the situation in Nigerian football.
During this joint assessment mission, FIFA and CAF will engage the NFF administration (secretariat), NFF congress, NFF electoral bodies as well as the Nigerian government represented by the NSC.
FIFA said that it until after this that a decision would be taken as to the way forward for the national sport.
“After assessment process, FIFA and CAF will determine whether any recommendations or proposals should be submitted to the competent decision-making bodies within FIFA and CAF in accordance with their respective Statutes and regulations,” the memo read in part.
“Until such time, the outcome of the assessment remains open and no assumptions should be made as to any action that FIFA and CAF may or may not take.”
At the same time, FIFA said all the processes leading to a proposed September 27 NFF elections remain suspended.
