Cyriel Dessers could still end up a player of Feyenoord as the Dutch club now have the cash to trigger the four Million Euros buy-out clause when he played on loan with them last season.
Dessers was top scorer at the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League with 10 goals for the Rotterdam club and he also weighed in with a decent number of goals in the league.
But Feyenoord could not take up the option to buy him outrightly after a successful loan spell.
However, Feyenoord coach Arne Slot has admitted they have not given up on signing the Super Eagles striker.
“It is no secret that we now have different financial options than we had when we had to make the decision,” he told ESPN.
We are always looking for good players. Players who have already proven themselves with us obviously have an extra advantage. “
“But we have to take a critical look at how we are going to divide that budget. There is more money than two months ago, but there are also a lot more positions to fill than two months ago.”
Feyenoord have made more than 40 Million Euros in incoming transfers in recent weeks – Bryan Linssen (Urawa Reds, 1.3 million), Tyrell Malacia (Manchester United, 15 million) and Luis Sinisterra (Leeds United, 25 million).
