SCORENigeria has learnt that the Federal Government has released a billion Naira to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to cover the country’s participation at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt as well as pay up the outstanding entitlements of both the Super Falcons and the Flying Eagles.
This cash came under the intervention fund as the NFF failed to submit the budget for the 2019 AFCON, officials said.
On Friday, the Eagles received their win-bonus for the Burundi match.
Both the Falcons and Flying Eagles staged pay strikes at their respective World Cups in France and Poland.
They are now expected to be paid in the coming days, officals informed SCORENigeria
It would be recalled that the FGN released 1.6 billion Naira to the NFF for last year’s World Cup in Russia.
This sum of money has yet to be properly accounted for officials alleged.
