Wilfred Ndidi was tonight a giant in central defence to shut out Premier League leading scorer Mohamed Salah with both players again to come face-to-face when the Super Eagles battle Egypt in an AFCON group game in two weeks.
Due to the Covid and injury situation at Leicester City, Ndidi was forced to play in the heart of the back four.
However, he got off to a disappointing start when he fouled Salah for a penalty, but the Egypt star somehow failed to score from the spot.
Thereafter, the Super Eagles defensive midfielder shone like a Million Dollars for Leicester City to record a “heroic” home win and move into the Top-10 of the Premier League.
Ndidi, who has been nursing a hamstring problem, played the full game, posted 82% pass accuracy, made six clearances, five tackles, five interceptions and nine recoveries.
He formed a superb defensive combo with Ghana’s Daniel Amartey.
It was the first time in 35 games that Liverpool did not score a goal.
