Belgian football experts have described Gift Orban as a lone ranger in the Gent dressing room and that the club missed out on a chance to sell him for as much as 25 Million Euros.
Former Belgium star Marc Degryse said Gent coach Hein Vanhaezebrouck has had some difficulties handling the striker because he is a lone ranger.
“He is a loner, apparently also in the dressing room,” he said.
“After three matchdays he already had a transfer in mind and that is annoying. But put him at Club Brugge last weekend and give him the chances that Jutgla had and you have a hat-trick.”
Gift Orban has dropped down the pecking order of strikers at Gent and he now has to start mostly from the bench.
Gent reportedly rejected offers of 25 Million Euros from the Premier League in the summer, but another expert, Frank Boeckx, said they made a mistake not to accept such a deal.
“He is now the third striker and they will no longer get 25 Million Euros for him,” said Boeckx on the Vier-Nul podcast.
“I am of the opinion that any Belgian club that can get such an amount for a player should always sell. As a Belgian club you are not going to get much more. No matter how difficult that is to explain to the fans, now he is unhappy on the bench.”
