SCORENigeria can now exclusively reveal the full details of the new and improved contract of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.
The former Mali coach agreed with the authorities for his new deal to commence on June 1, 2026 and run until August 2028 to cover the Los Angeles Olympics as he now also doubles as coach of the Nigeria U23s.
SCORENigeria further learnt that he will now pocket $75,000 monthly, a 50% rise on his initial salary of $50,000.
He had requested to be paid $130,000 monthly.
His assistants will now be paid by the NFF as against the previous arrangement, where he paid them from his own salary.
All these agreements were reached with the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the NFF then led by Ibrahim Gusau.
SCORENigeria checks showed that one of the 19-point conditions Eric Chelle proposed for a new deal has since been met – a fully furnished and functional house in Abuja.
However, the sudden resignation of the NFF executive committee led by Gusau has now delayed the formal signing of this new contract.
Eric Chelle, 48, was first appointed coach of the Super Eagles in January 2025 on a two-year contract with an option for an additional year.
He led Nigeria to third place at the 2025 AFCON playing a brand of exciting, attacking football.
