French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg have joined Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in hot pursuit of Antwerp star midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, SCORENigeria can report
Both clubs have made formal approaches to the Belgian champions for Alhassan and it is expected that things will move a lot faster in the coming days.
Sporting Lisbon, for one, will step up their interest for the versatile midfielder after Manuel Ugarte was sold to PSG for 60 Million Euros recently.
Earlier reports had suggested that a transfer for Alhassan to Portugal will be based on the departure of Ugarte.
Strasbourg, on the other hand, have shown their ambitions to compete in Ligue 1 with the recent appointment of former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira as new coach.
A top source told SCORENigeria: “The interests are concrete and should any one of them suit both selling club and player, a deal will be done.”
The former FC Hearts star cost Antwerp 1.5 Million Euros two seasons ago from Swedish club IFK Goteborg.
His Transfermakt valuation has since tripled on the back of solid displays for the Belgian league and cup winners.
