SCORENigeria can exclusively report that the Super Eagles friendlies against Ghana and Mali late this month will be auditions for Finidi George to stake his claim as the next coach of Nigeria.
SCORENigeria first reported that Finidi will be the man to lead the Super Eagles for the games against Ghana and Mali in Morocco from March 22.
He has now received the full backing of the NFF technical committee to do so after their meeting in Abuja Thursday.
The Enyimba coach could also use these matches he is the man the NFF are looking for to continue where the Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro stopped.
“Finidi was an assistant coach under Peseiro and now that Peseiro has left, it is often the standard practice that the assistant takes over the team at least on a temporary basis,” a top source informed SCORENigeria
“But it is also a chance for him to lay a strong claim for the top job.
“The team could impress under him in these matches and then who will say he should not carry on?”
It is believed that Finidi was involved in drawing up the list of 26 players for the friendlies in Marrakesh, Morocco.
He will also get the support of both the NFF technical committee and department when he takes full charge of the Super Eagles in Morocco.
The Super Eagles take on perennial rivals Ghana on March 22, before they tackle another West African foe Mali four days later as they prepare for two important 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa at home and away to Benin in June.

Is high time Bosso should be removed of his duty as flying eagles coach. He has failed to meet his target. If Manu and Ugbade can be axed why not Bosso? We as a country must stop double standard on matters that affect the development of the country.
