SCORENigeria investigations have uncovered impending danger for the Super Eagles provisional squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers with a coach again not in place for the country’s team.
With the NFF still foot dragging over the appointment of new coach for the Super Eagles, it may again be the technical department that will compile the Super Eagles provisional squad for the AFCON qualifiers, which begin in September.
It is understood that was the case on account of the late appointment of Finidi George in May.
“The new coach may have to work with the provisional squad submitted by the technical department should his appointment also be delayed,” an official informed SCORENigeria
“That will certainly not be a great start for the new coach.
“He must work with his own selection and on his own terms from Day 1.”
The Super Eagles begin their AFCON qualifying campaign in the first week of September with a home game against Benin, before a tricky trip against another 2026 World Cup qualifying rival Rwanda.
Last week, the NFF technical committee has shortlisted four foreign coaches namely Herve Renard, Eric Chelle, Tom Saintfiet and Steve McClaren for the consideration of the NFF executive committee.
