Belgian league toppers Antwerp have been left baffled after they received correspondence from the NFF Friday that midfielder Alhassan Yusuf should no longer join the Super Eagles for a friendly against Algeria.
Antwerp first received an official call-up for Alhassan, before another correspondence cancelling this invitation.
It was further gathered that the Belgian club, who have won their first nine league games this season, held back the latest information about the cancellation of the call-up till after the 2-1 home win over RC Seraing Friday.
They did so because they did not want it to affect his performance.
Sources close to the player said he is not disturbed by this latest development and has been rather philosophical that he will play for Nigeria whenever God so wills.
It would also be recalled that for some strange reasons surrounding his visa application, he could not fly out to the United States of America for friendlies against Ecuador and Mexico.
Box-to-box midfielder Alhassan was named Player of the Month for August after playing every minute of all the league wins by his club in the month under review.
