Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has taken exception to the individual performances of Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Chukwueze in Friday night’s goalless draw in Ghana.
Sodje said Iheanacho and Chukwueze are not living up to expectations.
“Chukwueze is not playing well for Nigeria not just yesterday, both the coach and his fellow players must talk to him to play well,” he remarked.
“Iheanacho also should not be starting for the Eagles, while Moses Simon does not have the end product.”
Sodje said he expects coach Augustine Eguavoen will ring changes for the decisive second leg in Abuja Tuesday as the Eagles put out everything to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
“It was an okay result for Nigeria from Ghana, but the game on Tuesday will be won from the bench,” he predicted.
“The personnel has to change for the second game which is at home.
“Also, Ghana should know from the start we want to win this game.
“We should not forget that there is the away goals’ rule, so we have to defend well like we did in Ghana and still go and win the game.
“Fingers crossed, we should be at the World Cup.”
