A former director of Napoli has stirred controversy by speculating that Galatasaray could well be a front for one of the top Italian clubs to buy Victor Osimhen eventually.
Osimhen has given Galatasaray the green light to negotiate with Napoli for his transfer.
However, former Napoli executive Pierpaolo Marino has said that Osimhen proposed transfer to Galatasaray might well be a strategic move by either Juventus or AC Milan to bypass the release clause of the player in Italy.
The Italian clubs could be involved indirectly with the transfer as they will get the player after a year at Galatasaray.
Napoli have imposed a 75 Million Euros release clause on Osimhen, which is not valid for clubs in Italy and which will expire on July 15.
This means that any Italian club would need to pay a lot more to sign the Super Eagles striker this summer.
Marino also questioned Galatasaray sustaining the 15 Million Euros yearly salary proposed to Osimhen, arguing that even Premier League clubs cannot afford such a salary.
