Terem Moffi, Victor Boniface and Gift Orban have all followed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen through the exit door of Europe’s top club competitions.
Osimhen and Napoli exited the UEFA Champions League Tuesday when fellow Serie A club AC Milan eliminated them 2-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in Naples with the Super Eagles star grabbing a stoppage time equaliser.
On Thursday night, OGC Nice parading Moffi saw their dream of European glory dashed right in front of their fans when they lost 2-1 to FC Basel after extra time to crash out of the UEFA Europa Conference League 4-3 on aggregate.
VAR ruled out a penalty appeal by Nice after Moffi appeared to be fouled inside the box in the 59th minute.
Gift Orban too could not lift his Belgian club KAA Gent past West Ham to the semifinal of the Conference League after they lost 4-1 in England after they had forced a 1-1 draw at home a week ago.
Gent held out 1-1 by half time in London only to capitulate after the break.
The fine run of Victor Boniface in the UEFA Europa League, which has seen him score six goals, ended when his club Union St.Gilloise were trounced 4-1 at home by Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface enjoyed a good shift before he was replaced nine minutes from time.
