Midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will be a major doubt for next year’s AFCON after his Premier League club Watford announced he could be out for as long as five months on account of a muscle injury.
“We can confirm Peter Etebo is expected to be out for between four to five months with a torn quad muscle,” Watford announced.
That would explain his omission from the Super Eagles squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic.
The defensive midfielder has shone on loan for Watford this season and he is very much a part of the Nigeria national team set-up as he has often paired Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi for the Super Eagles.
