One of the shortlisted coaches for the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has continued to resist mounting pressure to return as coach of Mali because he is confident he can achieve a lot more with Nigeria.
A source close to Chelle told SCORENigeria: “Eric believes he can do great things with the Super Eagles and that is why he has maintained he will not reconsider an offer to return to Mali.
“He also has an offer in France from FC Metz, but he has continued to insist it’s the Super Eagles job for him right now.”
The former Mali coach met with the NFF president and other top officials in Nantes, where he presented his short and long-term plans for the Super Eagles.
In two years in charge of the Eagles from Bamako, Chelle won 14, drew five and lost three in 22 matches.
Among his victories was a 2-0 win over the Super Eagles in a friendly in March in Morocco.
His team scored 36 goals and let in only 12 goals to prove he is a coach who believes in attacking football.
