Emmanuel Emenike has said he hopes to win promotion to the Belgian top flight with new club Westerlo.
The AFCON 2013 golden boot winner who last played for Olympiacos in Greece trained with Westerlo for two weeks before he was rewarded with a contract.
The former Fenerbahce hitman said he is delighted to be back in action after he was sidelined for almost two years no thanks to a long-term knee injury.
“Delighted to be back. Thank you Westerlo for making me feel at home and welcome. Let’s get some wins and go for the title. Project promotion,” Emenike wrote on his Instagram page.
Westerlo are currently on second in the Belgian second-tier with 13 points from six matches.
The 32-year-old striker has played for Black Aces, Cape Town FC (both in South Africa), Karabukspor, Fenerbahce (both in Turkey), Spartak Moscow (Russia), Al Ain (UAE), West Ham United (England), Las Palmas (Spain) and Olympiacos(Greece).
