William Ekong has said he always dreamt as a boy to score a last-minute winner after he became the unlikely hero with a stoppage time winning goal for Salernitana to edge past his former club Udinese in Serie A.
The defender snatched the match winner six minutes into additional time.
It was his first goal in eight appearances for the Italian club.
““These are the emotions I dreamt of experiencing as a young boy, scoring a last minute winner,” said Ekong, who was booked for his goal celebration.
The 29-year-old central defender is on loan from English Championship side Watford.
Salernitana are 15th in the standings with 42 points from 37 matches, while Udinese are 12th on 46 points.
