New signing Chidera Ejuke has promised to help Sevilla back to the top of the Spanish La Liga after the difficulties of the past season.
Sevilla finished a disappointing 14th last season.
“The club have won lots of trophies in the past years,” he said in his first interview after he signed a three-year contract.
“They are a big club with high ambitions, they always want to be on the top, competing for trophies.
“I think that with the calibre of players in the team, and with me coming in,I know that we will do what we can to get the club back to where they should be.
“There will be challenges during this period but I know that as a team we will stand together to make that happen. As I say, it’s a big club that deserves to be where it should be.”
Ejuke is the first Nigerian to play for the La Liga club and hopes to soon return to the Super Eagles.
“It’s a special feeling to be the first Nigerian. But it just feels good to be part of this team and I am looking forward to contributing what I can.
“I hope that I can return to the Nigerian side, it’s always nice to represent your country. So hopefully this will be the time to do that again.”
