The Super Eagles will not slow down at the AFCON in Cameroon just as coach Augustine Eguavoen said he will not make wholesale changes to the starting XI against Guinea Bissau later today.
The Eagles have already qualified for the knockout rounds of the tournament as winners of Group D, but Eguavoen said his team will continue to go full speed nonetheless.
“Third game in the group, we don’t want to take off our legs off the pedal,” the coach maintained.
“We will approach the game with the same enthusiasm.
“We created a lot of chances, but converting them is a bit of concern. We will continue to work on that.
He added: “It’s good to have qualified, we have done that.
“Expect a few changes. Everyone that came here deserves a chance to play and I told them their chance will come.”
Guinea Bissau will need to beat the Eagles to have any chance of making it to the next round of the competition.
But Eguavoen said he wants to win this final group game as well, just as he won all three first round games at the 2006 AFCON in Egypt .
“Guinea Bissau are a physical side and determined. They are also quick,” he remarked.
“We are working to stop them and score goals.”
Kick-off tonight is 8pm.
