Coach Augustine Eguavoen’s two main selection posers leading to tomorrow’s cracker in Ghana are who will replace defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and who will play alongside William Ekong in central defence.
Francis Uzoho will be in goal for the ill Maduka Okoye, while Eguavoen will keep faith with the defence he played at the AFCON in Cameroon, that will be fullbacks Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina as well as Ekong.
However, with the return of Leon Balogun after injury ruled him out of the tournament in Cameroon, it is now a question of whether he will be preferred to Kenneth Omeruo to pair Ekong in the heart of the back four.
Omeruo combined beautifully with Ekong at the AFCON, but lately he has struggled for game time at Spanish second division club CD Leganes.
The other major challenge for Eguaveon will be the replacement for Ndidi.
Even though he is just recovering from a long-term injury, Oghenekaro Etebo remains the best bet as the main defensive midfielder to partner Joe Aribo.
Frank Onyeka is a lot more attack-minded and has yet to convince in the green-white-green jersey, while late call-up Innocent Bonke may have the physicality to match the Ghanaians, but nothing more.
