Anti-graft agency EFCC will this week step up its investigations into fresh corruption allegations at the NFF.
SCORENigeria has learnt that after it broke this past weekend that the EFCC has asked the National Sports Commission (NSC) to furnish it with details of budgetary allocations, sponsorship, grants and other payments and donations that the NFF and NPFL have received in the past two years, the anti-corruption agency will also visit the Sunday Dankaro House head office of the football federation.
Previous corruption allegations at the NFF have been charged to court without resulting in any convictions.
However, sources informed SCORENigeria that this latest allegations are equally weighty and the present Government has the will to pursue this case to a logical conclusion.
It was further learnt that this is unlike the previous administration where top Government officials shamelessly shielded the NFF leadership against these allegations.
Last month, the Sports Stakeholders Forum in Nigeria petitioned President Bola Tinubu demanding a thorough investigation by the relevant agencies how 20 Billion Naira released by the Government for three major international tournaments was misappropriated.
The petition also demanded that a probe be conducted on how FIFA and CAF grants paid to the NFF for a number of international competitions in the last two years were spent.
