Two officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), a director and a head of department, have agreed to refund a total of 16.5 million Naira, which was meant for the Aiteo Cup, but was misappropriated.
The officials spent the past weekend in EFCC detention as investigation into the alleged corruption at the football federation gathered steam.
The 4.5 million Naira was meant for media and publicity and the director in charge already paid back 1.5 million Naira Tuesday.
It was alleged that a few journalists were handpicked by the director to provide media coverage for the cup competition after which they were paid stipends.
The NFF head of department in charge of the Aiteo Cup is expected to refund 12 million Naira budgeted for other logistics before the end of this month.
However, a source informed SCORENigeria that this refund may still not stop the officials from being prosecuted.
