D’Tigers coach Mike Brown has asked his Super Eagles counterpart Gernot Rohr and the rest of the country’s football team to support the basketball team as they aim for glory at the Tokyo Olympics.
D’Tigers will open their campaign today against top-rated Australia.
“Rohr and the rest of the Super Eagles should show us some love,” said Mike Brown ahead of their medal quest in Tokyo.
“It’s unfortunate they could not make it here.
“Were they in Tokyo, we would also have been supporting them.”
D’Tigers have qualified for the last three Olympics and are drawn in a tough-looking pool that also has Germany and Italy.
Shock wins over world No 1 USA and Argentina in the build-up to the Olympics have shot up expectations the country’s basketball team could make history, just as the Eagles struck Gold at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
