Players of Delta Force Football Club have alleged they are owed salaries for the past four months by the Delta State Government.
One of the players told SCORENigeria: “I am dying here. The woman, who has been giving me food for more than two months now in anticipation that I will pay whenever we are paid salary, has stopped giving me food.
“I find it difficult to even feed once a day and I’m playing professional football. I play for Delta Force in a top league in Nigeria, but can’t feed myself not to talk of my family.
“I have stopped taking calls from my loved ones and my immediate family as well. You can’t be telling people every day that you have not been paid. I’m feeling so bad as I speak with you, but what do I do?”
He continued, “It might even interest you to know that the media officer of the team even countered a story about this some days ago.
“They don’t have shame, they are wicked, they are evil. How can you owe four months’ salary and still go to the media to say you’re not owing? No one wants to talk. Everybody is scared of losing their jobs but I’m not scared!
“How can you allow someone to work for four months and not be paid?
“It is evil.”
