Former NFF president Ibrahim Galadima has urged Amaju Pinnick and other officials charged for corruption to be in court to clear their names.
Pinnick, vice presidents Seyi Akinwumi and Shehu Dikko as well as executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf Fresh and general secretary Mohammed Sanusi have been charged for embezzlement of $8.4 million among 17-count charges.
The officials are to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja Thursday.
Galadima, who was NFF president between 2006 and 2010, said the current situation in Nigeria football calls for great concern and so the need for them to purge themselves.
“They need to clear their names, they need to prove they are innocent of the charges against them,” said Galadima.
He said he also expects the accused officials to step down.
“It’s either the anti-corruption agencies have their facts to go on with the investigations or the federation officials take the honourable way out, which is to give way for things to be worked out,” he advised.
“We saw the head of service (of the federation) step aside to allow for EFCC investigations.
“In other climes, things would have been done differently.
“These are not the best of times for Nigeria football, what is happening now is giving people some concern.”
