The hopes of the Golden Eaglets featuring at this year’s U17 AFCON have finally been dashed after CAF controversially picked Gambia ahead of Nigeria to fill one of the extra slots.
Tunisia as well as the two finalists from UNIFFAC region will make up the three other additional qualifiers as the 2025 U17 AFCON will feature 16 teams instead of 12 teams.
The competition will be played between March and April.
Gambia finished third in WAFU A, while the Golden Eaglets were also third in WAFU B.
It is left to be seen what the other considerations were for Gambia to be picked ahead of the most successful team at U17 World Cup level.s

Dey have used Nigeria slot to collect fifa job . Y gambia, I thought the third slot shud play , play off ….
That Patrice Motsepe is a big time Nigeria hater. I didn’t even know this happened. What criteria could there have been for choosing the Gambia over Nigeria? WAFU B has produced a combined 8 FIFA U-17 World Cups with Nigeria holding the record with 5 Titles. That is the same way that corrupt South African miscreant has favored SA in the World Cup qualifiers by having Zimbabwe and Lesotho play their home matches in South Africa, and Nigeria play their first World Cup qualifier a full 4 days before South Africa played theirs, even though practically all their players are home based, while our pros had to travel from all over Europe. Pinnick is the problem but now he sees that South African snake can’t be trusted with what he did to him at the CAF/FIFA elections. Nigeria needs to find a way to wage a calculated political campaign to remove Motsepe. He has to go!
