Club Brugge have admitted it will be tough to have a worthy replacement for suspended Raphael Onyedika in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League rematch against Atletico Madrid.
Belgian team Club Brugge held Atletico to a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg at home with Onyedika getting a goal and providing an assist.
Club Brugge coach Ivan Leko has admitted Onyedika will be difficult to replace Tuesday night in Spain.
“It will be difficult without him; he’s a very important player for us. He’s a unique profile in our team; we don’t have another Onyedika,” Leko lamented.
“We’ll have to find solutions to replace him.”
The most likely replacement for the Super Eagles midfielder will be the Norwegian Hugo Vetlesen, who deputised for Onyedika whe he was away at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
