Villarreal coach Unai Emery has admitted he is worried by the “slow recovery” of Samuel Chukwueze.
Chukwueze has battled hamstring injuries and recently he was sidelined by hip and thigh problem, but was supposed to have returned to action last week.
However, this has not been the case and so he will miss tonight’s UEFA Champions League tie at home against Atalanta.
He has also yet to play in the new La Liga season.
“He’s going a little bit slower than we wanted to and we still want to go cautiously with him,” Villarreal coach Emery told the club’s official website ahead of the clash against Atalanta.
Chukwueze’s continued absence means he could again miss next month’s double-header World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic after he was not involved in the games against Liberia and Cape Verde this month.
