Birmingham City reportedly tried to hijack the loan deal of Akpom to Ipswich Town at the last minute, indicating their interest in acquiring the Ajax striker.
The Sun also reported on the transfer saga surrounding Chuba Akpom involving Birmingham City and Ipswich.
Chuba Akpom, who has pledged his international allegiance to the Super Eagles, was on the verge of joining Birmingham City, with a deal agreed and a medical booked.
However, Ipswich made a late move which led to the cancellation of the Birmingham medical.
Birmingham City came back with a better offer to win the tug-of-war, but Akpom reportedly prefers Ipswich while Ajax want to accept the Birmingham deal.
